    universal: for all, even mainstream
    design: you can modify it appropriately to work for each individual student, and also think about how can I fade the supports over time.
    learning: models and mentors, graduated scaffolding (usually provide too much support in special Ed, and don’t think about fading support, same as teaching a baby to walk, letting go is important), progress monitoring (all the way a long & modify as you go)
    3 principles: multiple mean of representation, expression and engagement
    4 interrelated components: goals (firm goals, flexible means: clearly identified & separate means), instruction, materials & assessment (no order & include all multiples in each component)
    are we all about teaching for ax. or for learning
    GPS approach to UDL: – there is no just one way, and we all don’t start from the same place, we need to provide a detour button or diffent learning journeys for our students (eg. writing a essay on Greek methodology vs demonstrate knowledge of Greek methodology using flexible means eg. talk about it, pod cast etc.)
    AT & UDL work together & are connected
    responsive intervention vs response TO intervention read students story eg. Justin’s story (research), (policy), (UDL centre)
