Visual Discrimination for All Kids is a Reading Series of two books to provide a total of 160 (80 each) blackline masters for worksheets with a simple repetitive format.
Once the format is learned, the student can work independently and the worksheets can be used as work tasks in a TEACCH program for students with autism. The line drawings are appropriate for all ages.
Both titles provide:
- Links to outcomes based curriculum
- Goals for Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- A recording sheet to monitor student achievement and for use in student portfolios.
Book 1: Matching and Classifying Common Objects
This book focuses on the early visual discrimination skills of matching and classifying pictures and shapes on the basis of sameness. There are no written instructions, making the worksheets suitable for non-readers and students from a non-English speaking background (NESB). It uses a cut and paste format.
Book 2: Spatial Orientation of Objects, Shapes, Numerals and Letters
This book focuses on the discrimination of sameness and difference for objects with horizontal-vertical, up-down, left-right and variable rotations in space. Numerals and letters, as well as pictures and shapes are used, making these worksheets relevant for students with problems with letter and numeral reversals. Students make only circles or crosses to indicate their answers.
