Visually shows elapsed time as the red disc disappears!
To set the Personal, Original or Large Time Timer, move the red disc counterclockwise to the desired time interval. The disc diminishes as time elapses until no red is visible on the timer face. The disc may be moved clockwise or counterclockwise without harming the mechanism, however gentle handling will prolong the life of the timer.
The display can be set for up to 60 minutes and the red disappears as time elapses. This is an excellent tool for children who do not know how to tell time yet, as well as for those children who do not have a natural internal sense of the passage of time.
Using the Time Timer frees adults from the frustration of multiple and frequent verbal reminders to the child to continue working on assigned tasks by providing a constant visual reminder of the passage of time. It is also extremely useful in helping children who have difficulty transitioning to new activities, as they can tell at a glance how much time remains before a change in activity will occur.
The size of the Large Time Timer makes the display easily visible from across a room, and can help older children develop better time management skills.
How a Time Timer Works
- Making classrooms more effective
In a teaching situation, no other tool communicates the concept of elapsed time as well as the Time Timer. Used as an interactive teaching tool, this classroom-tested teaching aid reinforces the sense of elapsed time with a graphic depiction of the time remaining. Other teaching aids emphasise only what time looks like as a static number or a position on a clock face. The Time Timer can be used to set time limits, measure the duration of activities and train students to make better use of available time.
Use the Time Timer products to:
- Time standardised tests
- Monitor maths and writing speed tests
- Measure study periods and lunch periods
- Regulate computer time
- Administer duration drills
- Show time left to play, get ready or clean up
- Meeting Special Needs
The Time Timer provides the ability to judge how much time is left without having to know how to tell time. The products operate with high colour resolution, large dial numbers, and ultra-quiet quartz movement. These additional features make the Time Timers perfect for special needs applications such as working with students with ADD, ADHD, autism, etc.; counselling situations; occupational therapy sessions; stroke and brain injury rehabilitation and geriatric care.
- Timing counselling sessions and exercises
- Self-monitoring of activities
- Overseeing speech, hearing and vision therapies

Trainers and special education teachers have proven that Time Timers work in both individual and group situations. With the Time Timer, users understand the passage of time and can monitor their own activities, improving their self-esteem. Better time awareness also relieves the stress and anxiety of disorientation.
