Favourite children story books adapted to PECS
Many of you have asked about adapting your favourite books for PECS use. Books with repeated lines and predictable stories are great for PECS activities because the repetition and predictability provide functional context for multiple opportunities for requesting or commenting.
Pyramid Educational Consultants have developed five Story Book kits for several selected books.
- Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do you See? by Bill Martin Jr
- Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What do you Hear? by Bill Martin Jr
- Dear Zoo: A Lift-the-Flap Book by Rod Campbell
- The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
- It Looked Like Spilt Milk by Charles G. Shaw
Each kit includes:
- an activity board with hook Velcro
- a large sentence strip
- and all the laminated 4.4cm (1.75”) pictures for both requesting and commenting activities, including a variety of sentence starters.
Activity board may vary in colour. (Books not included)
