RAPS (by the staff at Southwest Human Development and edited by Dr. Caroline Ramsey Musselwhite) is an exciting 188 page book that targets the older student (mid primary to secondary school students) but is not limited to that age group. The 10 story units provided help students build language, social, literacy, sequencing, and self-help skills in a highly enjoyable way.
Each story includes a symbolised story (to be read in “rap” style), a symbol display for story retelling, a symbol display for role play/community visits, and suggested extension activities. The stories all have repeatable lines (that add to the “rap” rhythm) and a motivating theme that is age-appropriate and functional.
A software CD supporting three of the stories in the R.A.P.S. book is also available.
RAPS: Reading Activities Project for Older Students is targeted at the following age ranges:
- Mid Primary
- Upper Primary
- Secondary School
RAPS: Reading Activities Project for Older Students is designed to foster development in the areas of:
