This volume focuses on household chores.

Students build sentences with each word spoken aloud, then an animated picture shows the action of the sentence. The choices include five people, six verbs, and nineteen noun symbols.

Features and Benefits

  • Develop Expressive Language Skills
Students develop expressive language skills by building sentences from the words shown on the screen. When a complete sentence has been constructed, the program plays an animation of the activity described to reinforce correct responses. Learning is errorless – only correct answers are accepted. Intrinsic rewards and errorless learning combine to make Picture Sentence Key ideal for independent work.
  • Reinforce and Extend Learning
In the manual, you’ll find ideas for reinforcing the concepts with other activities and extending learning for greater generalisation. For example, real-world objects or photographs can be used to reinforce the activities described in the sentences.
  • Customise to Meet Every Student’s Needs
It’s easy to tailor Picture Sentence Key to individuals. For example, you can choose how many words are displayed, and whether they include symbol or voice support. Two different modes, normal and quiz, offer additional flexibility. Normal mode allows students to create any valid sentence from the words displayed. In quiz mode, students create a sentence that corresponds to the animated picture.

The program allows you to save word lists and setup options, including accessibility settings, for multiple students. It also records student progress so you can easily track difficulty levels, selection errors and more.

Picture Sentence Key is highly structured using PCS symbols. Within that structure, the student can choose what words will go together to make a sentence.

The meaning in each statement is clearly illustrated by an animated picture. The child constructs sentences by clicking on the Picture Communication Symbols. An option is also provided to display only the words so that the child constructs sentences from words.

Picture Sentence Key gives you the flexibility of showing a minimum of pictures: one person, one verb, and one noun, up to a maximum of four people, four verbs, and eight nouns. Start with a small number of pictures and add pictures as the student gains an understanding of the program.

Picture Sentence Key includes options for normal and inverse scan for use with single/dual switch devices. In addition, direct access by mouse, touch screen, IntelliKeys USB are supported. Dwell access for head- or eye-pointing devices are provided.
