Managing Threatening Confrontations
by Attainment Company
Understand and manage escalating behaviours
Years of experience working with people who exhibit challenging behaviours helped Paul White create a five-stage framework to manage threatening confrontations. Professionals learn to recognise the stages (adaptive, tension, emotional distress, physical distress and recovery) and respond appropriately.
This dynamic DVD presents Paul White’s five-stage framework for managing escalating behaviours, using situational re-enactments that include actors with developmental disabilities. Helps teachers and classroom assistants understand and manage escalating behaviours.
The primary goal of the program is to show staff how to reward adaptive behaviour and reduce the escalation of maladaptive behaviours.
This prevention strategy can significantly decrease the occurrence of threatening confrontations at work, home or in the community. The training manual has numerous reproducibles plus examples of a Behaviour Support Plan.
Frontline staff in the fields of developmental disabilities and mental illness such as teachers and classroom assistants who deal with potentially explosive situations will find this video to be extremely valuable.
Great for service personnel training.
