What is a Lightwriter SL38?

The Lightwriter SL38 is similar to the SL35 unit, but features a new Acapela HQ speech synthesiser instead of the DECtalk speech synthesiser. The Acapela speech synthesiser features two high quality more natural voices (1 adult male and 1 adult female).

Please note: Computer simulations of this speech can differ from production by a Lightwriter due to speaker and sound card differences. We strongly recommend that you trial an SL38 before purchasing it so that you can determine whether the speech synthesis meets your needs.

The Lightwriter SL38 has all the features of the Lightwriter SL35 and operates with some changes to the specifications. For example, the SL38 has only one expansion port and the SL35 has two. All accessories for the Lightwriter work with the Lightwriter SL38 via the expansion port. The compact printer, remote displays, computer transfer kit, etc. can be used with this unit. This unit has only one port and a second port cannot be added.
