Lightning with Speech (formerly called Storm) is an integrated combination of the popular Lightning Magnifier and the Thunder Screenreader. Whatever appears on the computer screen can be magnified up to 36 times. It is easy to install and just as easy to use.

Without needing to see the screen you will be able to

• hear what you have typed letter by letter or word by word
  
• change the speed and voice
  
• repeat what you have just heard.

Lightning with Speech will speak menus and dialog boxes. You will have full speech feedback for most text-based word processing tasks including editing documents in Microsoft Word, WordPad or Notepad.

• Human Natural Voice Screen Reading

  Lightning with Speech will speak all windows menus and dialog boxes, allowing full control of your computer. It gives full speech feedback for most text-based word processing tasks including editing documents in Microsoft Word, WordPad or Notepad.

  Lightning with Speech helps you write letters using Microsoft Word, including providing a spell check function. It also works with the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, Microsoft Outlook, Windows Calculator, Windows Messenger, Skype, anti-virus programs and more… In fact Lightning with Speech should speak the text from any accessible software program running on your computer.

  Lightning with Speech CD includes 2 Australian RealSpeak Solo voices, Karen and Lee. The USB memory stick of Lightning with Speech also includes these two RealSpeak Solo voices.

  Once Lightning with Speech is installed, the computer will be able to speak masses of information on the Internet from accessible websites. You will be able to enjoy live radio broadcasts over the internet from anywhere around the world and fill in forms for Internet shopping, banking and more. To work on the Internet, Lightning with Speech installs the special internet browser called WebbIE. WebbIE is a fully accessible web browser for users with low vision, and works well with the Lightning with Speech screen reader.

  

• Colour and Locator Options New in V2

  Lightning with Speech, with its customisable colour options, allows you to better view your PC screen, with the potential to make browsing and reading easier. It can change the colour of the screen “theme” and you can vary the brightness and contrast levels.

  Lightning with Speech features highly visible and easily customisable pointer locators. This feature is designed to help the user track and keep view of the mouse pointer even on pages which may hide or obscure it. The Caret (input cursor) is also customisable and can be highlighted making it easier for the user to find their way when word processing and data inputting on spreadsheets for example.

• USB Portability

  Lightning with Speech USB launches immediately after you insert the memory stick into a computer and runs directly from the stick. The Autorun window should then ask you what you would like to do. Select Start Lightning with Speech. The program installs nothing on the computer, so it is perfect for use in libraries and internet cafes. You don’t even need to have Administrator Rights to use it.

• Network Friendly

  Lightning with Speech is very safe to install on a network server and accessible on networked PCs within your organisation. This is due to its innovative design, ensuring it is very stable and will not interfere with the Windows operating system and drivers.
