What are Kimochis?
Kimochi (Key.Mo.Chee) means “feeling” in Japanese.
Feelings can be messy… Kimochis can help!
The goal of Kimochis is to provide helpful information and communication tools to parents, teachers, and children to enable to learn how to be better communicators, and to express their feelings.
Using the Kimochi characters, children can get in touch with their own emotions in a fun and comfortable way. And when they can communicate their feelings, they cultivate confidence and character.
The seven Kimochis build character and confidence one at a time. Each plush Kimochi character is about 33 cm in size.

Who are Kimochis?

Huggtopus is, needless to say, all smiles and hugs. She is very affectionate and strong and sometimes gets a little carried away by her big friendly personality. Huggtopus doesn’t know her own strength and can sometimes be a little overbearing. She always means well but has to learn about boundaries.
You can always count on Huggtopus to put a smile on your face if you’re feeling down and to give you a great big hug to make you feel better. She is a great friend and is always there to lend a hand or two or even 8!
Huggtopus lives in Kimochi Bug’s swimming hole. Her favourite number is 8, and her favourite colour is pink. Huggs loves to eat everything but has a special fondness for bubble gum. She plays the xylophone.

Cloud is a bit unpredictable. One day he is happy, the next he is angry, and the next day – who knows, maybe sad or even happy again. Cloud lives in the big sky and loves to travel across the treetops paying visits to all his friends.

Cloud’s favourite number is 9. His favourite colour is grey, because there are so many different shades of it – just like his personality. Cloud loves butterscotch pudding and green tea! He doesn’t play a musical instrument, but he is a great audience.
Because Cloud can be moody, sometimes it’s hard for him to get along with others. When Cloud is happy, he spreads the most beautiful sunshine across the Kimochis Universe and makes everyone feel fantastic! But when Cloud feels bad he has a tendency to snap and thunder and rain on everyone’s parade. He does not do this intentionally. He just has a hard time controlling his emotions, but he does work very hard at it, and the others love and support him because he is their friend.

Bug is a Caterpillar that is afraid of change. He is thoughtful, extremely cautious and has secret dreams of flying. But he is really smart, a skilled conversationalist and is known to talk himself and others out of any given situation, because he likes to examine all sides. This can sometimes confuse the Kimochis and make them forget what they were trying to accomplish.
Bug lives in a Manzanita tree. He has a swimming hole with a tethered rope swing in the centre of his living room. When the weather gets hot, the Kimochis can always be found splashing around Bug’s place!
Bug’s lucky number is 2 and his favourite colour is magenta. He loves the smell of rosemary and the taste of wildflower honey. Bug plays the mandolin.
But is afraid of change and because of this, being a caterpillar is not easy for him. He is always the last one to try something new. Although Bug is afraid, he secretly dreams of flying. Bug loves to read maps and has a great sense of direction.

Cat is the only Kimochi who knows what she wants, when she wants it and why. Cat can be very persuasive. When she makes up her mind there is no stopping her. When the Kimochis need a leader, they can always count on Cat.
She loves to be in charge but sometimes can be a bit bossy. Cat lives in a Cherry Blossom tree. She likes to keep her house tidy and loves to host tea parties. Cat’s favourite number is 10, her favourite colour is purple, and she loves to snack on toasted almond cookies and warm milk.
Cat is full of surprises! She can sometimes seem a little prickly on the outside but on the inside she has a very soft centre. As one might suspect, Cat’s bossiness can lead to a confrontation or “Cat fight” and feelings can get hurt on Kimochi Way. That’s why there are plenty of band aids to be had, and do-overs to be made. Cat loves bandages – when bandages appear, this can only mean that the healing process is underway!

Lovey Dove is sweet and nurturing and is always there to help smooth out a lumpy situation. If the Kimochis had one mom they could all share, it would be Lovey.
Lovey Dove is a great cuddler. She lives in an auburn nest high atop a Japanese Maple Tree. Lovey’s nest has one bedroom, a kitchen, and a playroom with a magic slide where the Kimochis spend a lot of time after their homework is done. Lovey’s favourite number is 11 and her favourite colour is lemon yellow. She loves healthy snacks like carrot sticks, yogurt covered raisins and edamame. Lovey has a beautiful singing voice.
Lovey Dove is calm, wise and loves psychology. She is a successful problem solver because she is a great listener. On rare occasion, Lovey’s patience can be put to the test.
When the Kimochis get a bit out of control, Lovey Dove will give a shrill whistle in an effort to bring back the harmony of the group.
Lovey knows in her heart that she can’t always lease everyone, but still feels a little sad when someone feels let down. Lovey Dove has a big generous heart and is always there the help the Kimochis.
