Key Features and Benefits
Say Anything. Go Anywhere. Built Tough.
Maestro empowers users to say anything that they want to say from anywhere they want to say it. Make every page meaningful by building custom pages within the InterAACt software, developed with years of research and feedback from users. Capture memories and share them with family and friends with the built-in digital camera. Move from place to place and connect to accessories and the internet with built-in WiFi and Bluetooth wireless capability. Maestro is also built tough, based on Military standards for extreme operating conditions, making sure that the communication is always possible – despite how the devices are handled. Maestro – feel good about owning and using it!
The InterAACt advantage
Structure and consistency in page layout, navigation, and key functionality have been designed into the Maestro with InterAACt page sets and Series 5 Software. These dynamic page sets are organised in logical categories according to age and skill level, making core words and phrases easy to find. And, for individuals who are building skills, the page sets encourage language and literacy development.
Give voice to your thoughts
Using virtually any access method, users choose a symbol or scene from the large, colour touch screen. The device “speaks” the corresponding word or phrase using a synthesised or digitised voice. A wide range of preloaded, synthesised voices (including Nuance RealSpeak Karen and Lee Australian Voices, AT&T Natural Voices, and Acapela HQ Child and Adult Voices) have enhanced levels of clarity, projection, and intelligibility. Messages can be understood immediately in any setting.
Create the message
With the Maestro, you can communicate faster than ever. There are the standard shortcuts, built-in spell checker, and even phrase prediction features you’d expect, but that’s just the beginning. Sophisticated capabilities keep conversations moving quickly. Groups of common phrases can be quickly tailored to the immediate situation. Short, conversational interjections are available right on the main page. You can also create longer messages in advance and use them later as needed.
Customisation that works with you
The pre-programmed InterAACt page sets can be customised to suit each user’s needs. An easy-to-follow Setup Wizard walks you through the process and then loads a recommended set of pages, symbols, and voices. Modify InterAACt page templates or create original pages from scratch. Pull images from the Picture Communication Symbols and DynaSyms symbol sets preloaded on every device. Or, import content and images from other DynaVox software and other applications.
Connect with the world
For wireless access to computers, the internet, and electronic communication methods, such as email and text messaging, the standard (open) versions of the Maestro are unmatched. You can run any Microsoft Windows 7-compatible software application directly on the Maestro or operate an external computer with AccessIT. Compose and print word processor documents. Surf the Internet or send email using any access method. Set up a web camera. And with MP3 player functions, you can store your music and create playlists using any access method.
Access power
The Maestro offers the widest variety of access methods in the AAC industry, including touch enter and exit, visual and auditory scanning, audio touch, mouse pause, headtrackers, joystick, Morse code, touch autozoom, and zoom scanning. Each of these unique selection methods can be customised to suit the specific needs and goals of an individual. All of the system tools, as well as ways to modify and create pages, are available to users of any input method.
Environmental matters

For added convenience, you can use your Maestro to “tie into” common electronic devices around the house. Program it to act as a universal remote for a television, CD or DVD player, light switches, or any other item that can be operated with a remote control.
eBook capabilities
Integrated eBook capabilities mean users can load an eBook onto their Maestro for reading, or have their device read it to them. The Maestro will support DAISY and Text format eBooks and a variety of additional behaviours and tools have been added allowing users to completely customise an eBook page which will be most useful to their individual needs.
Available in Dedicated and Standard Versions
The DynaVox Maestro may be ordered in Dedicated or Standard setups. The Dedicated setup is designed specifically to run communication software only. The Standard setup can run Microsoft Windows 7- compatible software applications as if the device is a full Windows 7 computer with Windows 7 Ultimate installed. If your funding body agrees, the Standard option may be purchased for a Dedicated device after shipment.

Compatible Network Adapters (USB) (drivers preloaded on-board)
Here is the list of mobile phones which work with the DynaVox Bluetooth interface. Other makes and models of mobile phones may work, but these are the ones DynaVox has successfully tested. The Maestro, V and Vmax only work with a phone with a GPRS SIM card, not 3G. See tips on common Bluetooth issues on compatible phones.
Please note: Your phone service provider is also an important consideration. Telstra SIM cards have been tested as compatible. Optus have recently changed the way in which they transmit text messages and their SIM cards are no longer compatible with the text messaging functions in the Maestro, V and Vmax. As yet, other phone service providers have not been tested. We strongly suggest that you purchase a phone which is not locked to a specific service provider to allow you to change service provider in case of difficulties.
