Noisy Bears is the second program of the Clicker Phonics series and the second part of the Get Ready! stage. Get your children ready for phonics by engaging them in these fun activities where they learn to discriminate between sounds – the difference between a dog’s bark and a cow’s moo; a baby’s cry and children’s laughter; a sneeze and a cough. Developing this awareness builds the foundation of young children’s abilities to hear and discriminate between different sounds in words. Children also develop their speaking skills as they record their own sounds.
In Noisy Bears, children listen to and discriminate between ‘action noises’ performed by six bear characters – Charlie, Millie, Boris, Lulu, Alfie and Dotty.
- Children meet the bears in a talking book with simple sentences about each character.
- The bears are involved in a variety of actions such as having a picnic and playing in a band, each of which has a corresponding range of activities.
- Children go on to make their own books, where they can record their own sound effects and stories.
Noisy Bears includes the following activities:

- presents a programme of systematic phonic work
- supports active learning through listening and recording as students get to record their own voices as they build words phonetically.
