Classroom Suite 4
by IntelliTools
Software for building reading, writing, and maths skills for students in special education, regular mainstream education, English Language Learners and inclusion classes

Classroom Suite 4 is a unique intervention tool that combines direct instruction with a flexible tool environment to help students in grades Pre-K through 5 achieve mastery in reading, writing and maths.
Classroom Suite 4 provides students with explicit instruction, constructive practice and embedded assessments to allow teachers to gauge progress and individualise instruction for their students.
Classroom Suite 4 includes research-based activity templates that can be used out-of-the-box, or easily customised to meet targeted needs. Lessons can even be sequenced into “intelligent” units to align with district or core curriculum.
Features
- Reading instruction
- Maths instruction targeting number sense and automaticity
- Writing templates across many genres
- Creativity tools for whole class instruction and student presentations
- Early Learning activities for emergent learners
- Customisable, individualised and direct explicit instruction
- Easy Student and Classroom Management
These features result in less teacher training and technology support.
Model, Practise, Apply
Classroom Suite performs like an excellent instructor. Great teachers give direction (Model), support guided practices with their class (Practise), and then turn the reins over to their students (Apply). With Classroom Suite, students are led through three stages:
- Show Me – The computer plays a video-like sequence to orient the student to the lesson
- Practise – The student practises and learns as the software provides strategic and corrective feedback
- Challenge – The educational objective is identical to “Practise”, but the corrective feedback is withdrawn and data is collected for reports
If the student displays mastery in Challenge, he/she moves on to the next activity. If he/she fails to master the assignment, more practice with more strategic feedback is given to the student.
Classroom Suite Activities and Tools
- Reading
Classroom Suite is anchored in the research by many literacy organisations in the US (including the US National Reading Panel, the Florida Centre for Reading Research, and research conducted with Karen Erickson, PhD, of the Centre for Literacy and Disability Studies). Classroom Suite is also an ideal tool for creating reading interventions based on Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) screening data.
There are five key areas of Reading addressed in Classroom Suite:
- Phonemic Awareness – Sound matching, isolating, segmenting, blending, and manipulating
- Phonics – Letter-sound correspondence, high frequency words, major and minor sounds, syllable patterns, compound words, and affixes
- Fluency – Building word, sentence, and paragraph reading fluency
- Vocabulary – Building student vocabulary by creating personal vocabulary notebooks
- Comprehension – Building comprehension through strategic approaches such as writing activities below
- Phonemic Awareness – Sound matching, isolating, segmenting, blending, and manipulating
- Writing
The scaffolded writing instruction integrated into Classroom Suite helps students to both master the stages of the writing process (brainstorming, organising, drafting, editing, publishing) as well as have opportunities to learn to write in various genres.
- Maths
The math interactions in Classroom Suite are based upon research in mathematical models and automaticity. They use onscreen maths manipulatives to build core skills and master concepts. Manipulative models and computational sequences reflect the latest research and correspond to most popular maths curricula.
There are six key areas of Maths addressed in Classroom Suite:
- Early Math Concepts – Counting, sorting, and patterns
- Addition and Subtraction – Problems are presented using multiple models to teach the basic concept. Students use manipulative models to learn strategies in solving problems with large numbers. Activities are sequenced in order of difficulty.
- Multiplication and Division – Commutative and distributive properties. Also teaches arrays, collections, hundreds chart, and number line.
- Place Value – Understanding how to build numbers and regrouping
- Fractions – Using manipulatives to create fractions, addition and subtraction of fractions with common denominators
- Decimals – Using manipulatives to create decimals, addition and subtraction of decimals to the hundredths
- Early Learning
Classroom Suite includes engaging early learning activities for emergent learners. These customisable activity templates teach the following basics skills:
- Easy Explore – Cause and effect, colours, numbers, sizes, movements, sentence, object recognition and vocabulary building. Use the Explore mode to build simple sentences.
- 2 Choice – Create a simple test
- Errorless Writing – Students develop reading and writing fluency in a word bank activity
- Puzzles – A simple cause and effect activity for engaging switch users
- Left Right – Switch training for student graduating to using two switches with the IntelliSwitch wireless switch interface
- Creativity Tools
The Creativity Tools serve multiple purposes. They can be used by the student to create multimedia presentations and provide writing support. They can be used by the Teacher to create activities from scratch rather than customising an existing template. These Tools do not contain curriculum content.
Customisable, Individualised and Direct Explicit Instruction
Classroom Suite combines two educational paradigms: systematic, explicit instruction and a flexible creativity tool. Activities or lessons are based on carefully-crafted, scientifically-sequenced teaching strategies, and allow teachers control over specific learning objectives enabling individualised inductions for students or groups.
- Individualised, Direct Instruction
Activities can be easily individualised, or adapted to the core curriculum, using a simple “wizard” interface. Out-of-the-box lessons incorporating the “Model, Practise, Apply” to ensure that your students understand each educational objective. Students receive practice with strategic feedback and are immediately assessed to determine whether to move on to another activity or to receive additional practice.

- Ideal for All Types of Learners
Classroom Suite levels the playing field for struggling students. Recorded speech, thousands of images, and engaging interactivity help English Language Learners build skills in reading, writing and math. Universal access support, including alternative keyboard and switch inputs, provides the best possible environment for students with motor and cognitive delays. - Whole Group Instruction with Interactive Whiteboards
Most Classroom Suite activities work with the click of a non-screen button making the program uniquely ideal for use with interactive white boards or touch screen monitors. Students can write stories, operate mathematics manipulatives, and create animations all by simply touching the whiteboard with their finger.

Easy Student and Classroom Management
- Easy Tracking of Student Progress
Each activity captures data, such as scores and time it took to complete an activity. This enables you to monitor the student’s progress or determine where additional, direct instruction may be necessary.
- Student Assessment
Classroom Suite provides three highly-integrated feature sets designed to help you with diagnosis and placement of students:
- Assessment and Automaticity Templates – Measures high-stakes Maths and Reading skills
- Reports – Generate and print out reports as support documents for parent, or IEP meetings
- Unit Builder – Link activities into a sequence for the purpose of building skills, managing the student time, keeping unit lessons together, or for creating a series of scaffolded activities
- Assessment and Automaticity Templates – Measures high-stakes Maths and Reading skills
All activities in Classroom Suite are designed to meet the needs of students with physical, visual and cognitive impairments and provide access to curriculum.
The reading, writing and maths lessons, accessible through IntelliKeys and switches, provide struggling students with:
- multiple means of representation
- multiple means of expression
- multiple means of engagement
