ClaroLingo is a new development from the assistive software company behind ClaroRead, the easy to use software solution. ClaroLingo enables the computer translate and speak any text in a wide range of languages, making it the ideal tool for anyone who learns, teaches or works with different languages.

ClaroLingo uses a high quality, human sounding voices that speaks text aloud to help those learning how to pronounce words. ClaroLingo is currently linked to a wide range of language dictionaries from Harper Collins, and other dictionary content can be added. It includes an extensive homophone checker, giving extra support for checking the many hundreds of confusable words in the English language.

Key Innovations

A key innovation in ClaroLingo is the hover feature. As the mouse hovers over a word, whether this is in a text document, email, web page or PDF file, the program uses a special technique to capture the word. Immediately after capturing it, ClaroLingo can speak it with a human voice, translate it and search on the internet for more information. See the screenshot below:

Text to Speech Features

ClaroLingo speaks back text as it is typed, allowing the user to check and proofread their work quickly and easily. Text can be spoken at any point by highlighting individual sections of text and pressing the Play button – great for proofreading. Close integration with Microsoft Word and Internet Explorer means users can click and play at any point in a document. Spoken words can be tracked using a custom colour selection.

Check Features

ClaroLingo provides a single Check button for use in Microsoft Word that combines a homophone dictionary, thesaurus, reference dictionary and spellchecker, making the checking of the text and documents easier and more comprehensive.

If a word is a homophone the Homophone Check box will appear, along with their meanings. If the word has alternative words with the same or similar meaning, the Meaning Check box will appear. Users can then view more to see the dictionary definition and can spellcheck individual words or the whole of the document at any point.

The Check boxes are fully speech enabled, so hovering the mouse over the words will make them speak. The software features over 2000 picture icons to help with word meanings.

NOTE: Some check features only work when checking English words.
