Boardmaker Building Blocks: Maths

More than 150 accessible maths activities for early learners!
Fifteen activity types, most of which include at least ten activities, have been designed to follow curriculum standards for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. The simple, redundant tasks and extensive picture support are ideal for learners on the autism spectrum, those who are hearing impaired and invididuals with language or learning disabilities.

Students complete activities as worksheets, on a computer screen with Boardmaker Player or on the Boardmaker Activity Pad.
With Boardmaker Building Blocks, it’s easy to meet the needs of individual learners. Each activity comes in three formats:
- A printable worksheet for those with fine motor skills
- An interactive version for scanning users
- A template for Boardmaker Activity Pad users

Activities address:
- Quantity
- Counting: Learners are presented with groups of items of various amounts between two and ten. They must select the groups that contain a specific amount.
- How Many: Learners circle the number that corresponds with the amount of pictures shown on a page
- Graphing: Each worksheet has a picture scene on the left and a 16- or 20-cell graph on the right. Learners fill in the graph to match the amount of each picture in the scene.
- Counting: Learners are presented with groups of items of various amounts between two and ten. They must select the groups that contain a specific amount.
- Comparing
- More: Learners choose which row has more items
- Less: Learners choose which row has less items
- Tallest: Learners choose which of three pictures is the tallest
- Bigger: Learners choose which picture is bigger
- Which Holds More: Learners choose which item would hold more when presented with a pair of pictures
- More: Learners choose which row has more items
- Temporal and Sequential
- What Time?: Learners are shown a large clock with a minute and an hour hand. Two different times are presented in numeric format next to the clock. Learners must match the time on the clock with the correct numeric time.
- Patterns: A series of activities introduce students to the concept of patterns and then challenges them to complete patterns

- Spatial
- Direction: Several different activities challenge learners to determine right, left and up
- Shapes: Learners find the pictures in a group of twelve that contain a specific shape, find a specific shape within a picture, match shapes when presented with two rows and draw shapes

- Dice Games: This game challenges learners to determine whether each picture on the game board weighs more or holds more than the object at the top of the game board
- Counting Games: Learners match the correct number to the amount of items in each square
- Month Games: Learners match a picture or number to the correct month
- Week Games: Learners order the days of the week
- Dice Games: This game challenges learners to determine whether each picture on the game board weighs more or holds more than the object at the top of the game board
- Fine Motor Skills
- Coloring: Learners are challenged to match numbers to a color key in these color-by-number activities
- Dot to Dot: In this classic activity, learners complete drawings by drawing lines following a number sequence
