What is Audio Notetaker?
Audio Notetaker is an audio based note-taking software program which makes it easy to create comprehensive notes.
Instead of having to rely on writing things down, with Audio Notetaker you create your notes using the original audio:
- recorded using a digital recorder
- recorded directly into Audio Notetaker
- downloaded from the internet
Audio Notetaker can benefit anyone who records audio or listens to audio recordings. Whether you are a student recording lectures, a professional making recordings of meetings or interviews at work, or someone who just wants a better way to listen to podcasts, Audio Notetaker makes recording, navigating, annotating and organising audio effortless.

Catch everything
We are unable to write down everything that is important in meetings, interviews and lectures. By recording with Audio Notetaker you always know you have a complete record of what’s happened, even if you miss things first time round. Instead of trying to write down everything you need, simply get rid of what you don’t, leaving only what’s important. This will significantly improve the notes you create.
Increase focus
Spending time taking notes can prevent you from engaging fully. Audio Notetaker gives you the freedom to focus on the task at hand, reducing the input needed to create great notes.
Format before you record
If you are recording an interview, meeting or presentation, you will often know the structure before you begin. Format your recording with notes and presentation slides before you start recording and eliminate the need to do so afterwards.
Improve productivity
By using the original audio to record information you negate the need to type notes up, saving time. Use colours to mark important sections or phrases and write short contextual notes to create meaningful notes quickly.
If you record already, Audio Notetaker will help you with:
Navigating you audio
Accessing specific information on conventional media players is clunky and time consuming. With Audio Notetaker spoken phrases are visualized as bars. This means you can skip from sentence to sentence with a touch of a button. Finding a specific moment in a recording is now so much quicker, saving you time.
Digesting your audio
Recordings of meetings, interviews or presentations are often very long and difficult to review. With Audio Notetaker you can format and organise your recording into smaller sections which are much easier to digest.
Editing
Normally, editing a long recording can take a long time, especially if the audio is compressed (mp3 or wma). Audio Notetaker allows you to edit hours of audio instantly without decompressing and recompressing the audio. Simply highlight bars and cut, copy, paste or delete. Editing recordings has never been easier.
Organising your audio
The title of your audio files often doesn’t give any indication of what the file contains. That’s why Audio Notetaker contains metadata tagging; simply fill in information about your recording and find it quickly again later. You can also search for keywords within PDF/PowerPoint slides or your notes.
Creating comprehensive notes
Many professionals keep quotes from interviews, but after transcribing lose the original audio and with it the nuances of the original words. Likewise, you may want to keep slides from a presentation together with your notes and the recording. With Audio Notetaker you can keep everything together, creating complete notes.
