A text reader with supported reading guides and speech to help students read strategically for comprehension
Read:OutLoud is an accessible text reader that provides struggling readers access to the general curriculum.
Good readers read strategically. Struggling readers lack critical comprehension strategies to make sense of the text. The US Reading Panel concluded that comprehension is “dependent on active and thoughtful interaction between the text and the reader.” Auditory feedback alone is not enough to ensure comprehension. This is why Read:OutLoud SOLO uses strategic comprehension supports to further thoughtful interactions between reader and text. These supports improve comprehension skills so readers gain true understanding of concepts in social studies, science and language arts!
