Download “Making Learning Accessible: Maximising the Use of the iPad to Support Diverse Learners”
Mobile learning tools have changed the way 21st Century learners can access knowledge and undertake learning. In particular the iPad has the potential to allow all learners, including those with diverse literacy needs, to access knowledge and to be connected to their peers and teachers.
The convergence of the iPad with the principles of universal design for learning has the potential to flatten learning environments so that they are inclusive of all students. The challenge for educators is to take advantage of the iPad to ensure successful learning for all students.
This workshop, framed within the context of the principles of universal design for learning: providing multiple means of (1) representation, (2) action and expression, and (3) engagement, will provide participants an opportunity to explore the iPad in relation to supporting diverse learners in the areas of literacy and differentiated learning activities.
• An understanding of the principles of universal design for learning (UDL), and their implementation in a learning environment.
• A practical introduction to the iPad to support students with diverse literacy needs in schools.
• A comprehensive list of apps to support students who struggle with literacy, organization and study
