Poetry is a powerful tool for ALL students, but especially for students who are reluctant writers. Poetry addresses language, phonemic awareness and writing development. It can also be used to support students emotionally, to inspire them with instant success and to bring them joy. Struggling writers CAN write creative, innovative, highly meaningful poems, with proper scaffolding and technical support. We will share many different poetry forms appropriate for a wide range of purposes and audiences.
