The Boardmaker Software Family consists of three software products designed to meet a broad range of communication and special education needs. It is the premier software among special educators and speech-language pathologists.

Boardmaker creates printed materials with Picture Communication Symbols (PCS) and other pictures and graphics.

    Who uses Boardmaker and what is it for?

    Special educators, speech-language pathologists, parents and caregivers use Boardmaker to create printed communication boards and educational materials.

Boardmaker Plus! creates truly interactive, onscreen activities by adding voice, sound, animation and video. It’s also compatible with Boardmaker and lets you create printed materials too. Boardmaker Plus! supports students who use alternative access methods.

    Who uses Boardmaker Plus! and what is it for?

    Special educators, speech-language pathologists, parents and caregivers transform paper-based activities into interactive activities for students to use on the computer.

Boardmaker with Speaking Dynamically Pro builds on the capabilities of Boardmaker Plus! by adding natural-sounding voices, word prediction and abbreviation expansion to support augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).

    Who uses Boardmaker with Speaking Dynamically Pro and what is it for?

    Special educators, speech-language pathologists, parents, caregivers and individuals challenged with significant speech, often use this software on speech generating devices or laptop computers for AAC.

Is there anything else I need?

Symbol Libraries add additional symbol sets to the core set of more than 4,500 PCS included with the Boardmaker Software Family.

  • Additional sets of PCS can increase the total number to over 11,000 (necessary for optimal performance of the Symbolate button feature)
  • Other symbol sets or sets of images can also be imported into Boardmaker, Boardmaker Plus! or Boardmaker with Speaking Dynamically Pro.

Boardmaker Add-ons, Boardmaker Plus! Add-ons, and Speaking Dynamically Pro Add-Ons are time saving sets of activities and communication boards that are ready to use with the Boardmaker Software Family.

  • Created by the Mayer-Johnson team of education specialists and partner professionals in the field. The Spectronics team also helped in contributing symbols for the Australia and New Zealand region as well.
  • Use immediately or easily customise with different PCS or images
  • Choose from Boardmaker Add-ons materials for printing only, or those with interactive activities (requiring Boardmaker Plus! or Boardmaker with Speaking Dynamically Pro) that also come with printable activities.

Boardmaker, Boardmaker Plus! and Boardmaker with Speaking Dynamically Pro all come loaded with more than 4,500 Picture Communication Symbols (PCS).

  • Add the additional PCS Addendum Libraries to increase your PCS library to more than 11,000 for maximum Symbolate functionality
  • Add photo image sets or other Symbol Libraries to round out your communication needs.

What else can I add?

Boardmaker Add-ons will save you time. These sets of communication boards and activities are ready to use, or you can customise them with different PCS or images if needed.

I have Boardmaker. Can I upgrade to Boardmaker Plus!?
