What do I do when Guided Access freezes on my iPad?

We have all appreciated the great range of options now available to support learners using an iPad via the new Guided Access feature in iOS 6. Amanda Hartmann, a member of our consultancy team here at Spectronics, has recently posted about these features. Find out more by clicking here

However, we have discovered this feature can freeze at unexpected times! I am sure Apple is working on an update to solve this annoying issue but in the meantime here is a simple solution. Thanks to Katrina Ward at The Hills School in Sydney to alerting us to the following:

“Hi Greg, don’t know if you’ve come across it yet, but there’s a glitch with guided access for  iOS 6 – sometimes it freezes. To get around it, people need to hold the home button first, then the home and power together, then the screen comes back as normal. Regards, Katrina”

    I am having the same problem with my iPhone and I really don’t want to reset it . This trick may work with the iPad but it’s not working with my iPhone.
