Greg has been actively involved in supporting the learning of people with diverse learning needs for 29 years. During this time he has worked as a classroom teacher, school executive, district consultant and regional manager with the New South Wales Department of Education and Training in Australia.

Greg’s areas of interest and expertise include supporting people with complex needs, challenging behaviours and autism, and literacy support technologies for people with learning disabilities. He is passionately committed to the use of assistive and instructional technologies to support the learning of ALL students in school and post school settings. Greg is currently the Education Services Manager at Spectronics in Australia and New Zealand.

Katie Lyon

Katie is a speech pathologist and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) consultant who has been working with young children and adults with complex communication needs for the past 11 years. She has had worked in various roles including Coordinator of the Non-electronic Communication Aid Scheme and Regional Communication Service in Victoria as part of the state-wide Communication Access Network. She has a keen interest in supporting families, teachers, direct support workers and therapists to access information about AAC and assistive technology through education and training. She currently works part-time with Spectronics and part-time with the Communication Resource Centre at Scope in Victoria.

Charlene Cullen

Charlene has worked as a speech pathologist in the disability field for over 14 years. Various roles have included working as a therapist, supervisor and resource consultant with the Disability Services Commission in Western Australia. More recently she has worked for Spectronics as an inclusive technology consultant across Australia and New Zealand. Over this time she has developed a wealth of knowledge in practical applications of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and assistive technology and has a strong desire to support and educate parents, teachers, therapists and others in using inclusive technologies.

Amanda Hartmann

Amanda is a Speech Pathologist with over 14 years’ experience. She is excited to be rejoining the Spectronics team in 2012 after a six year hiatus. She has worked for Education Queensland and currently runs her own busy private practice. Amanda specialises in working with children and young adults with disabilities. She has been a Key Word Sign (Makaton) Presenter for eight years and enjoys running fun and interactive workshops. Through her experience, Amanda has developed a special interest in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and is passionate about working with children, their families and schools, to implement sign language, symbols and technology for successful communication.

Apple-related Consultancy Services offered by Spectronics

Spectronics’ Consultants are able to provide customised onsite sessions to specifically address the needs of you (and your team) including:

  • Advice on Apps and accessories appropriate for your students’ needs
  • Training in use of Apps and basic strategies for successful implementation in the classroom
  • The basics of using iPads with the students in your classroom or school
  • Advice on appropriate tools and strategies for students from specific disability groups – eg. autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and others
  • Advice on appropriate tools and strategies for students with complex communication needs wishing to use iPads, iPhones or iPod touches to support communication
  • Advice on appropriate tools and strategies for support of students in regular ed classrooms who are struggling with reading, writing and organisational tasks
  • Advice on embedding iPads, iPhones and iPod touches in a school-wide balanced literacy program

Please note that providing phone or email-based support for technical issues, Apps installation and iTunes management falls outside of the scope of services offered by Spectronics Apple Consultants. We will however continually update the Useful Apple and Apps-Related Resources Blog compiled by the Spectronics’ Consultancy Team. We hope that this will prove to be useful in answering many of your questions.

Fees for Spectronics’ Onsite Consultancy Services

Presentation Fees

Minimum Presentation Fee – $500
(Including presentation, setup and pack-up time)
Whole Day Workshop – $2,000
Per hour – $500

Travel Costs

Per hour – $150 if travel by car is required
Full cost of return airfares to Spectronics office must be covered should air travel be required
(Spectronics staff will arrange all travel bookings and advise of costs)

Accommodation Costs

Per night – $300 (City accommodation)
Per night – $250 (Regional accommodation)
(Spectronics staff will arrange all accommodation bookings and advise of costs)

Training Venue Costs

If venue and catering is required for the training, these costs will also need to be met by the customer purchasing Spectronics’ training services.
