How to Install Multi-User Options and Teacher Toolkit in Texthelp Read&Write Version 7.1
Download/view the PDF version (955 KB)
This booklet provides instructions for installing Texthelp Read&Write or Read&Write GOLD Version 7.1 to allow for multiple students log-ons and use of the Teacher Toolkit. (If you are installing over a Network – please follow the separate Network Installation instructions supplied with your software. The instructions in this booklet only apply to installation on non-networked computers.)
Why would you want to do this?
- It allows for multiple students to use Texthelp Read&Write Standard or GOLD Version 7.1 on the one computer. (Useful in classrooms with several students using the one computer – useful for itinerant teachers visiting several schools with multiple students using the program from the one laptop.)
- It allows each of those students to have a different “profile” – so they can use their own preferred toolbar settings, word predictions, customised dictionaries etc
- It allows use of the Teacher Toolkit to edit dictionary definitions – useful for local definitions of words not covered in the standard Texthelp Dictionaries
- It allows use of the Teacher Toolkit to create Topic Specific Dictionaries – meaning that all the words related to a particular curriculum area will appear in the list of predicted words – to speed writing on topics with unique vocabulary not included in the standard word prediction lists.
When would you not bother with this?
- If you only wish to have one person using Texthelp Read&Write on this computer
- If you do not want to be able to edit the dictionary entries/definitions
- If you do not want to be able to create Topic Specific Dictionaries for use with the word prediction feature in Texthelp Read&Write.
If you have already installed Texthelp Read&Write or Read&Write GOLD Version 7.1 on this computer and you wish to activate the Multi-user Option and the Teacher Toolkit, please click here to view the instructions for modifying your existing installation further below.

the Standard version) and the Teachers Toolkit available in your options.
- If you also see “Texthelp Admin Tool” as one of the options in your menu, it means you have also installed the “Active Directory Admin Tool” and/or the “Active Directory Integration” options – required only on networked computers managed by a Network Administrator.

- If you have this Texthelp Admin Tool option available, you will see this screen when you try to run the Teacher Toolkit – and will not be able to run the Toolkit if you are not attached to your Network.
