Scanning Access to Clicker 5 using IntelliKeys USB
by Penny McCulloch, August 2007
Although the Crick USB switch interface box is recommended for use with Clicker 5, it is possible to use IntelliKeys USB overlay keyboard for access in switch mode. These instructions are not designed for older IntelliKeys keyboards.
There is an overlay already created using Overlay Maker for Clicker 5 that is installed with the IntelliKeys USB install disk. Using the IntelliKeys/IntelliSwitch Control Panel from the task bar, it is possible to link that overlay with Clicker 5. The overlay looks like this:

Make sure you have installed the IntelliKeys USB install disk.
- Plug in your IntelliKeys USB into your USB port
- Turn it on
- The IntelliKeys Control Panel icon, found on your task bar, should now be blue
- Open Clicker 5
- While Clicker 5 is active, left click on the Control Panel icon.
- The following menu will appear:

- Select Attach/Edit overlays for “Clicker 5”…
- The following window will appear:

- Make sure that Clicker 5 is selected in the applications list on the left hand side and then select Attach…
- An “Open” dialog box will appear as below.

- You need to navigate to the Sample folder. This can be found on the C: drive. Go to C:, then go to the folder ITOOLS, then to the folder IntelliKeys USB, then to the folder private, then to the folder Application Overlays and finally to the folder Sample. See the example below.

- Once you are in the Sample folder, select Clicker 5 Scan Overlay as below.

- Select Open.
- Select Done.
- You should now see a window pop open which says “Sending Clicker 5 Scan Overlay for Clicker 5 …”

If this window appears you are now able to use your IntelliKeys with this overlay or with one or two switches. You must now make sure Clicker 5 is set up for scanning.
