Tips for trouble-free programming …
- Make sure the device is fully charged before you start programming.
- Perform a system maintenance before and after major programming.
- Save to card as you go to avoid losing programming.
- If you have programmed in large amounts of new pages, sounds or pictures, don’t forget to back them up on your USB memory stick or second storage card (pages 5-16 in the manual).
My device is slow to respond when I touch the screen
This could be because you need to save changes you have made and perform a soft reset to clear the system memory.
Note: It is recommended that you perform a soft reset at least once a week
To save information to the data storage card, follow these steps:
- Select the blue Setup button in the title bar. The Mo Setup menu will open.
- Select the Save Data to Card button. A message window will open with the following message:
“Do you want to save your pages, sounds, etc. to the flash card?”
- Select the Yes button to confirm the save. An hourglass will be displayed to signify that the information is being saved to the card.
- Select the OK button to close the Mo Setup menu once the hourglass disappears.
Note: Saving data to your storage card is not a form of backing up your device. Backing up is a separate operation.
To perform a soft reset from the menu, follow these steps:
- Select the blue Setup button in the title bar.
- Select Soft Reset.
- Select Yes at the prompt.
- After a few minutes, the device will display the last page that was on the screen when the reset was performed.
Note: Your device could also be slow to respond because you have a hold time set on the device. This is usually set because the user needs a hold time. However, if you feel this has been turned on accidentally, please follow these instructions to remove the hold time.
- Select the blue Setup button in the title bar to open the Mo Setup menu.
- Select the Selection Method pull-down menu.
- Select Touch Enter.
- Select the Selection Method Settings button. The Touch Settings menu will open.
- To adjust the Hold Time, select the Hold Time slider. Then, move the slider all the way to the left to remove the Hold Time.
- Select the OK button to accept the new settings and close the Touch Settings menu.
- Select the OK button to close the Mo Setup menu.
My device won’t respond when I press the screen
It is most likely that your device needs a reset.
If the device is frozen, you will need to use the power button to perform a soft reset. To do so, follow these steps:
- While the device is turned on, press and hold down the power button until the screen turns dark (approximately 10 seconds).
- Release the power button. The device will turn back on by itself.
- After a few minutes, the MightyMo/MiniMo will should display the last page that was on the screen when the reset was performed.
If the device cannot soft reset and remains frozen, you will need to do a hard reset.
A hard reset will shut down the MightyMo/MiniMo software and completely clear any data in program memory (RAM) that was not saved to the data storage card. When the system restarts, it will reload information from the data storage card.
Note: Before using this procedure, it is important that you try to resolve any device problems by using the soft reset.
To perform a hard reset, follow these steps:
- Turn the device face down and locate a small hole with a raised rim near the top of the Mighty Mo/Mini Mo. It has an ‘R’ printed over it. Inside this hole is a reset button.
- Insert a straightened paper clip straight down into the hole until you hear a soft click or until the screen goes dark.
- Remove the paper clip and turn the device face up.
- After a moment, the device will reboot on its own. A white screen may be presented prompting you to recalibrate the touch screen. Follow the on-screen directions to complete the recalibration. The rest of the reset will take a few minutes. When the reset is complete, the device will display the page that was showing prior to the reset.
Note: Your device may also not be responding because it has a very long hold time set. Please contact us if the hard reset does not correct your problem.
This could be because the speaker has been set to private and is no longer using the built-in speaker.
To set the speaker to public, follow these steps:

- Public Speaker
- Select the OK button to close the Speaker Menu.

The On/Off power button doesn’t work
This could be because your power button has been disabled.
To change the function of the power button, follow these steps:
- Select the blue Setup button in the title bar.
- Select System Settings.
- Select the Power Button pull-down menu and then select one of the following options:
- Turn off device: The power button will turn your device off when pressed.

The power button will now function according to your selection.
There is a lot of distortion or feedback on a new recording
This could be due to a high microphone volume setting, to adjust this:
- Select the blue Setup button in the title bar.
- Select the Speaker Menu button.
- Adjust the Mic Volume to around 55.
- Select OK to exit the Speaker Menu.
- Select OK to exit the Setup Menu.
When do I perform a system maintenance, save to card, or soft reset?
MightyMo/MiniMo Software Utilities and when to perform them:
- Save to Card – When save to card is invoked, it will save a copy of the userdata.dvo file and run a CRC check on it for errors. A CRC check is a diagnostic test of the files which create the userdata.dvo file. In short, it checks the copy of the userdata file it just made against the userdata.dvo file already living on the device bit by bit to make sure they are identical. It doesn’t care what type of file it’s looking at, it just checks to be sure they are identical.
- System Maintenance – A System Maintenance will perform a page clean-up, build the page index, and delete recordings and IR commands that are not connected to a button. The page clean up will check the pages for corruption and if necessary delete offending pages. The page index is a table of pages and who they are linked too. During a System Maintenance this index will be checked for any page names that may have been changed or deleted and update the index accordingly. When recordings and IR commands are evaluated to be deleted, the system will only look at custom recordings not associated with a button. Professional recordings should remain intact.
- Soft Reset – The benefit of performing a Soft Reset is that it reinitialises memory, making things run faster and reducing the chance of running out of memory. It can be accessed by holding the on/off button or through the setup menu. A soft reset can be performed any time there is a noticeable slow down in device performance. It is recommended to perform a soft reset at least once a week.
Note: Performing a soft reset on a more frequent basis does not hurt the device
