Making a Forced Order Grid Set in Clicker 5
Clicker 5 contains a template which assists you in making a Forced Order Grid Set. This is very useful for sentence building activities, or sequencing activities, where the student needs to select items in order but needs some scaffolding to achieve this.
Use these steps to make a Forced Order Grid Set in Clicker 5:
- Select the File Menu.
- Select New Grid Set.
- In the File Templates area double click on the “Sentence Building” folder.
- Now double click on the Forced Order grid set template.
- Now select the number of cells you would like the grid to have. In this example, I will choose a 3 × 2 grid. This means the grid set will have 3 columns and 2 rows. As soon as I click once on 3×2 a small diagram of how the grid set will look appears in the right hand side to help me visualise how it will look.
- Select the Create button down the bottom to make a blank grid set.
- Now I add content to the cells in the normal way. Firstly, I need to go to the Edit Menu and Select Edit Mode.
- Right click on the first cell and select “Properties”
- The Cell Properties window will appear.
- Using this window add appropriate text and graphics to each cell.
- Press OK to make these modifications to the Cell Properties.
- Now right click on the next cell and make the same changes to the properties.
- Your grid should start to look like this.
- Make changes to all the other cells, adding text and/or pictures as appropriate.
- Once completed every cell should contain text and/or pictures for the student to make a selection.
- Now you need to save your work. Go to the file menu and choose “Save Grid Set”. Make sure you give the grid an appropriate name e.g. Chocolate and Brussel Sprouts. Press Save.
- Go to the Edit menu and Select Edit Mode to exit Edit Mode.
- Now you can use your forced order grid.
