Launching Co:Writer with a Preferred Application
by Gerry Kennedy
You will need to add your two applications to the Start menu in order for both programs to work together on start-up. They will run together quite elegantly if you follow these steps.
- Using Start/Settings/Taskbar and Start Menu/Start Menu Programs/Add option, add the Co:Writer application and (in this instance, Write:OutLoud) to your START menu on your PC compatible desktop Notebook.
- They will now be stored and ready in the “Start Menu” at next logon of your computer.
- Go to Start/Shutdown/Shut down.
- Re-start you PC computer.
- Wait until any virus protection programs finish checking your drive(s) – e.g. VET.
- Co:Writer will launch as will your second application (in this instance Write:OutLoud). The main user will be launched with your second application with preferences (i.e. voice and dictionary).
- Co:Writer will display a dialogue box. It will prompt you for your preferred application or usage (i.e. to use “WordPad” or “Enter Talk Mode”).
- Use the “Choose an application” option. Click “OK” or press the “enter” key.
- Locate your application (i.e. Write:OutLoud) on the task bar (usually located at the bottom of the screen next to your Windows “Start” button).
- RIGHT click with your mouse (or trackball) on the program that is running.
- Click on the “Co:Writer Connection” dialogue box or press your wakeup key.
- Begin typing.
- Your text will be accepted by Co:Writer and when you complete your sentence it will be “sent” to your preferred program.
