How to install Co:Writer for Neo

You must have NEO Manager (or later) installed on the computer.
You must install the Neo UK Dictionary CD, follow the instructions on the CD.
You must install the Co:Writer CD, follow the instructions on the CD.
Open the NEO Manager and attach your Neo device. Make sure your Neo is recognised by the NEO Manager – it will show “AlphaSmart Devices Connected“ at the bottom of the NEO Manager screen.
To have the Co:Writer SmartApplet install and work properly you must not send the US Dictionary/ies and Thesaurus, only send the UK Dictionary/ies and Thesaurus to the Neo. This is shown below.
Click on the tab SmartApplets.
In the SmartApplet List on the left you will see a list containing the following:
- Calculator
- Neo Font – Large
- Neo Font – Small
- Neo Font – Extra Large
- SpellCheck Small USA
- Thesaurus Small USA
- Inspiration® Outliner
- StyleWriter Font
- AlphaWord Plus
- SpellCheck Large UK
- Co:Writer
- Control Panel
- Neo Font – Medium
- Neo Font – Very Large
- SpellCheck Large USA
- Thesaurus Large USA
- Thesaurus Spanish to
- Keywords
- Beamer
- Thesaurus Large UK
- CW_Topics
- CW_Main Dictionary
Now you need to copy over what you want installed on to the Neo into the next column called the Install List.
Note: You require everything except for the USA Spellcheckers and Thesaurus.
Do not copy over into the Install List the following:
- SpellCheck Large USA
- SpellCheck Small USA
- Thesaurus Large USA
- Thesaurus Small USA
- Thesaurus Spanish to
You will also need to click on the box next to where it says: Delete SmartApplets that are not in the Install List from the AlphaSmart Devices
If you don’t, it will want to also install the USA spellcheckers and thesaurus.
Now that all the items you want are in the Install List column you can now click on the Send List tab. Here you will be able to scroll down and see everything you want installed on the Neo listed:
Now you can click on Send and all the items in the list will be installed on your Neo.
Once everything is finished installing you can disconnect your Neo.
When you go to Close NEO Manager it will ask you: Do you want to save the current send list?
Click YES. This will allow you to save this list so that should you need to reinstall at a later date for some reason you will not have to recreate the list. You can just click on file and open list and then on the list, then just reinstall.
Once you click on Yes it will then it shows the following box. Just name your file and then click on Save.
NEO Manager will then close.
You will need to turn on the Neo and activate the Co:Writer. See the Co:Writer information (on its CD) on how to do this.
