How do I Use a Switch with Clicker 4 ?

Single Switch Scanning

Clicker cannot be operated by a switch plugged into a computer via a switch adapted mouse.
Clicker can be used with a switch connected to the computer via:

  • Clicker Serial Switch Interface
  • Clicker USB Switch Interface
  • Don Johnston Switch Interface (Mac, PC or Pro)
  • Inclusive Switch Box
  • IntelliKeys

If you wish to use switches to operate Clicker 4, it is important to select “Install Switch Access” when installing the software.

If you have installed Clicker 4 with Switch Access you will be able to select User Access… under Options… in the Clicker 4 menu bar

  • Under the Access Method tab select Single Switch
  • Under the Scan Type tab select Simple
  • Under the Sound tab you can choose the sound feedback for Select Sound and Scan Sound
  • Under the Timings tab you can set the Scan or dwell delay, the Acceptance delay, and the Debounce or Autorepeat delay
  • Under the Switch Connection tab you need to define where your switch is connected via: the Crick Universal Switch Box (USB), a switch interface plugged into a Serial Port, the DJ or Inclusive switch interface, or IntelliKeys which must emulate the Left Arrow key, so select Up and left arrow keys

Try selecting the Up and Left Arrow keys and use the Left Arrow key to make your scan selections

Note: for single switch scanning via the Clicker Serial Switch Interface, the switch must be plugged into second switch socket.
