Australian National Disability Insurance Scheme update
It is worth keeping an eye on the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) website for regular updates on progress of this proposed no-fault insurance scheme for everyone who has, or acquires a significant disability. It received quite a bit of airplay during the recent Australian election campaign – with comments like those of the President of the Australian Medical Association who felt that such a scheme must be at the core of any National Disability Strategy and should be one of the first decisions of the next Australian government.
Read more here. The NDIS has now received 310 Submissions which can be viewed on their website. Further opportunity for comment will be possible after the release of a draft report by the Productivity Commission which is expected to be published in February 2011.
